With incredible dynamic range, Red DSMC2 Gemini captures cinematic images regardless of the lighting conditions by combining Red’s enhanced Image Processing Pipeline (IPP2) with the sensor’s dual sensitivity modes.
Body
Une body / 3 sensors
The Red DSMC2 body is small, lightweight and modular to configure the camera according the project needs.
Multiple configurations
The unified Red DSMC2 body allows set up the camera with different modules, most of them interchangeable regardless the sensor.
Red DSMC2 system lets you choose between the brain (camera body), mounts, on-board monitors, internal filters, battery mounts…
Sensor
S35 5K Sensor
The S35 5K Red Gemini sensor is capable of 5K at 96fps Full Format and, with its 30.72 x 18.0 mm (ø 35.61 mm) is the tallest 5K sensor option to improve anamorphic lens coverage
What makes Gemini’s sensor so special is its dual ISO mode that makes it so versatile regardless the lighting conditions.
Dual Sensitivity CMOS Sensor
The Red DSMC2 Gemini 5K S35 leverages dual sensitivity modes to provide greater flexibility for a variety of shooting environments.
Whether creators choose to shoot in Standard Mode for well-lit conditions or Low Light Mode for darker environments, the Red DSMC2 Gemini 5K S35 delivers incredible dynamic range and produces cinematic quality images with less noise and better shadow detail.
Recording
The Red DSMC2 Gemini is capable of data write speeds of 300 MB/s and can simultaneously record in REDCODE RAW and Apple ProRes or Avid DNxHR/HD.
RAW recording
RED’s proprietary REDCODE RAW file format, also referred to simply as R3D, gives you maximum flexibility during post.
The Red DSMC2 Gemini delivers 300 fps at 2K 2.4:1 (2048 x 864).
If filmmakers use all the sensor (5K, 5120 x 3000), Gemini will deliver 75 fps.

Red DSMC2 system
The RED DSMC2 system is modular and there are five essential components to get a DSMC2 camera up and running: brain, lens, power, media and monitoring.
The camera BRAIN or camera body is the primary building block of the RED system, housing the image sensor and advanced computing components and is offered with four sensor options:
Red DSMC2 Monstro 8V VV: Red’s Full Frame sensor delivers a native resolutions of 8K Vista Vision format (VV is quite taller and wider than Super35).
Red DSMC2 Helium 8K S35: The well-known Super 35mm sensor capable of 60 fps at 8K. Physically smaller thant Monstro’s sensor but same resolution.
Red DSMC2 Gemini 5K S35: Also a Super 35mm sensor, capable of 96fps at 5K. The main difference is its Dual ISO mode that increases its performance in low lighting conditions.
Red DSMC2 Dragon 5K S35: Born in 2012 has been improved to deliver 96fps at 5K. It’s a more “budget-friendly” version.
